Pakistani right-handed opener Abdullah Shafique scored his maiden Test double hundred on day three of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Wednesday.

Abdullah, as classy as he gets, scored 201 runs with the help of 19 fours and four sixes leaving the cricketing world awestruck.

With this milestone, Abdullah also gathered applause from everywhere, including fans to ex-cricketers.

Here is how Twitter reacted

Abdullah (23y 246d) also became the third-youngest Pakistani player to score a Test double hundred after Javed Miandad (19y 140d), and Hanif Mohammad (23y 27d).

On the other hand, Salman Agha also completed his century and strengthened Pakistan’s position in the match even more.

While this story was filed, Pakistan was batting at 544-5 in 128 overs and had a staggering lead of 378 runs.

Earlier today, Pakistan had resumed their innings on day three at 178-2 with a lead of 12 runs.

Pakistani skipper Babar Azam could not stand for long as he was, once again, trapped by Prabath Jayasuriya for 39 runs.

However, Abdullah stood strong and developed a 109-run partnership with Pakistan’s hero of the first Test Saud Shakeel who also scored a half-century and created a record.

After scoring a fifty in the first innings of the ongoing second Test, Shakeel became the first-ever batter in history to score a half-century in each of the first seven Tests of their career.

Previously, India’s Sunil Gavaskar, Pakistan’s Saeed Ahmed, West Indies’ Basil Butcher and New Zealand’s Bert Sutcliffe scored half-centuries in each of the first six Tests of their career.

Sarfaraz Ahmed was retired hurt after a blow to the head, during the second session. The right-hander, who was unbeaten on 14, was struck on the helmet on the first ball he faced.

Sarfaraz was then replaced by Mohammad Rizwan as a concussion substitute.

According to International Cricket Council (ICC) rules, if a player sustains a concussion as a result of a head or neck injury during the match, a Concussion Replacement may be permitted.
